STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

As a Civil Engineer equipped with nearly one year of professional experience in the construction industry, I do not intend to just witness this revolution. Rather I hold a strong conviction to work at the forefront of Waste Management and Energy optimization to accomplish the common goals of a circular economy.   Translating my vision into reality shall require a higher degree of expertise in the segments of Waste treatment technologies, Geothermal Engineering, Sustainable Water Management, and Environmental Analysis that I eagerly look forward to attaining through a comprehensive and experiential academic rigor. I bring to this program a strong foundational knowledge base, broad technical skill sets, and rich industrial exposure which shall allow me to unleash my true potential during my study tenure abroad. I grew up watching documentary series like Mega Builders and Extreme Engineering which strengthened my desire to build resilient infrastructure and skyscrapers right from my high school years. Hence, after the completion of my pre-university studies, I chose to pursue B. Tech. in Civil Engineering at the renowned APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram. Right from the initial semesters, the rigorous study curriculum of this program exposed me to the courses like Introduction to sustainable engineering, Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering, and Energy conservation & management which substantially enhanced my knowledge on the nexus between Environment & Engineering. I eventually involved myself in a minor project, titled; Seawall construction using mangrove plants in Tetra-pot; where I designed a Tetra-pot using a 3D printer and demonstrated the impact of mangroves in preventing coastal erosion. This project equipped me with an analytical thinking ability and prepared me for more challenging projects. 

Subsequently, I worked on a major project, titled; Road safety audit of NH66 from Mamam to Poovanpara where I investigated the road crash potentials and safety performance for implementing a new road plan, rehabilitation, improvements, and maintenance in the existing road network. Throughout this audit, I diligently recognized the accident-prone areas from the accident data collected and analyzed the impact of roadway, geometric, and traffic conditions to develop a statistical relationship between the rate of accidents and the factors that lead to such mishaps. This endeavor solidified my detail orientation skills, problem-solving aptitude, and statistical proficiency, although I still lacked an industrial edge. Hence, I went on to join Habitat Technology Group as an intern, where I was trained in the nuances of residential building construction and in the basics of evaluating the norms of environmental compliance of buildings. The impetus of this internship exponentially enhanced the factor of my employability.

My professional expedition began at Sabari Constructions where I have been working as a Junior Engineer in the construction projects of all types of residential buildings. Here, I have been handling multi-faceted on-site and off-site roles like performing field inspection and cost estimations as well as achieving cost reduction in the cost of materials. I have designed a range of blueprints using AutoCAD which has significantly refined my visualization skills and big-picture thinking. At this juncture of my career, I am poised to deepen my knowledge in the cross-cultural aspects of recycling, air pollution, hydrological systems, pollution control, and waste disposal, etc. Attaining a strong footing in these areas would allow me to analyze complicated environmental problems scientifically and develop the most optimal solutions for them. I aim to improve my pragmatic perspectives to approach environmental issues in conjunction with generating long-term value.
