As a little eight- year-old, I watched several episodes of MasterChef Australia, an Australian competitive cooking reality show. With a few ingredients available at home, I began to cook simple meals and replicate the recipes I saw on television. In this process, my desire to become a chef grew stronger. Harboring the desire to own a restaurant in the distant future, I designed my academic progression. I pursued a Bachelor's in Hotel Management at Manipal University. Evolution in the culinary arts field has been fast-paced and continues to impact society and the food industry globally. With the intent to carve a niche while learning comprehensive mechanisms and adopting advanced skill sets in modern times, I felt a strong sense of responsibility towards making significant and recognizable contributions to culinary expertise and restaurant management.

Four crucial years of my life were committed to understanding hospitality operations, accommodation management, food and beverage management, and marketing. The course curriculum was extensive and well-planned. It covered an expansive spectrum of subjects and designed my ambition, helping me acquire analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills. In addition to developing these skills, I learned how to cook and plate meals for guests. Additionally, the head chef assigned tasks that included inventory management, designing a budget for the menu, procuring ingredients, and using them judiciously.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I undertook various internships. I had the opportunity to work at the Bombay Canteen. Under the guidance of Michelin-starred Indian American chef Floyd Cardoz, I was introduced to the fundamentals of culinary techniques. Furthermore, I participated in a two-day event, 'World on a Plate,' with three Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre White. I single-handedly worked and coordinated operations across three kitchens in 30o86o, Costa Chica, and Shark's Tooth under St. Joe. I acquired the essential skills of multitasking and maintaining the quality of food and services provided to guests.

Moreover, working in these restaurants in Florida gave me skills in menu planning, ensuring customer satisfaction, and teamwork across culturally diverse groups. In conjunction with these experiences, I performed as a Culinary Intern at Teleferic Barcelona, a family-owned group of Spanish restaurants. I was held responsible for training and mentoring a team of 20 chefs in the kitchen about the refinement of culinary skills and taking safety precautions while cooking, thus holistically leading to their professional development.

Besides proactively pursuing academics, I visited libraries and read books on Indian chefs and their success stories. Investing time in attending seminars and workshops helped broaden my knowledge horizon. Participating in theatre groups during college helped augment my communication skills and overcome stage fright. As an individual committed to making a difference in the community, I worked with children with special needs and cooked delicious meals for them in a psychiatric rehabilitation center in Manipal. Given my fondness for animals, I rescued several stray dogs and cats and provided them with treatment and care at an animal shelter. As a part of my extracurricular activities, I enjoyed playing basketball and represented my school at the state level.

I worked at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in the Cellular and Molecular Biology lab, where I acquired hands-on experience and observed the field's promise in diagnostics and protein engineering. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the transformative impact of techniques such as PCR on global disease diagnosis. These experiences inspired me to advance my education by enrolling in a Ph.D. program in biomedical sciences at SUNY Upstate Medical University. By taking this action, I will be better equipрed to advance scientific knowledge and increase my awareness of diseases—all of which will bring me one inch closer to solving the mysteries of life and enhancing human welfare.

Fascinated by microbial science, I pursued a BSc at the University of Mumbai, immersing myself in microbiology. I studied various subjects, including Microbial Genetics, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, and Microbial Biochemistry. Moreover, I engaged in a research project on lignocellulosic waste decomposition with fungal cultures, nurturing my passion for applied microbiology. I pursued an MSc at the University of Mumbai, advancing my academic journey and deepening my understanding of microbial science. I honed my research skills and dedicated a year to a dissertation project, 'Study On The Anti Quorum Sensing Activity Of A Marine Isolate And Characterisation Of The Anti Quorum Sensing Compound' at the DBT-ICT Centre for Energy Biosciences, gaining hands-on experience in pioneering research.
